On september there is a JRA (junk Rig) rally to which a friend of mine from London would like to go and visit. He and his wife are around 45 and would like some recommendations as to where to stay for the weekend. One for the Welsh forumites me thinks

Look forward to your advice.

There is a new Travel Lodge and a new Premier Inn in a new development right on Victoria Dock in Caernarfon. The Celtic Royal Hotel is not far away but probably more expensive. Or if they want real old fashioned pub accommodation the Black Buoy in the middle of town is good and the food there is wonderful.

I second Chatelaine60, but if they don't mind being slightly further away there is The Gazelle a few miles away across the old Menai Bridge on Anglesey. Not quite as ancient as the Black Boy, but the location is to die for, & the food & drinks are excellent too.

Loads of small B&B's in the area too, try a pm to Kawasaki, he may know a suitable small B&B if that is what you want. The Major (Catastrophe) has holiday cottages in the marina village at Felinheli which may fit the bill for self catering, try a pm if that suits.

Sorry, my mistake, and I always thought you were an old tart.:D

I see your point tho', much less hassle than holiday lets.

I am told by a holiday letter, that it is what holiday makers leave behind that makes the job interesting.

One found a bag of after lights out recreational instruments.

They never asked for them back.

OOOOOODLES of places

JMCS (Glanafon) for example .... £7.00 a night .... free transport to and from Victoria Dock ...

Sorry ... I can't reply because I'm doing something for Sailing Today and won't be back till 18 August.

Try Tyn Rhos Country House

This one is in a very attractive location a few miles out of Caernarfon: Tyn Rhos

If you really want to push the boat out, and don't mind travelling a bit further, you can't do better than the Bull at Beaumaris.
