I'm selling my Bawley, and wonder if anyone has any ideas on good places to advertise - where have you had success selling similar boats?

She is currently listed on Apollo duck (http://apolloduck.net/111997) and with Heritage Marine in Maldon.

I've just reduced the price to £25k. She's in commission and ready to go.

Is that the complete ad? if so you want a full description, location, kit on board and a shed load of photo's, I just sold Curlew on Boats and Outboards, paid to keep her on the front page and highlighted, also Sailing Today,it was cheap,PBO was no good [sorry Richard Shead] and Appollo was useless. It still took me six months for a seriously fully equipped and immaculate boat. Good Luck.

Very small potential market. Ferro will always be difficult to sell and style of boat appeals to perhaps only a few people. The "reduced price" approach is not helpful - that assumes you are looking for buyers who have already rejected it as too expensive!

In this specialised market you are likely to have more success going through a broker who specialises in this type of boat rather than trying to find a buyer yourself. Whatever you do, you need better photos - these do not give a sense of what the boat is about!

Wooden Ships

Try Peter Gregson at Woodenships, he has listed bawleys in his brokerage before. Had a nice John Leather design on offer there recently...

It depends on how fast you want to sell and if you are prepared to pay brokerage fees.

Thanks all for your helpful responses. I'll try and put more photos and info up.

Interesting what is being said about highlighting a reduction in price - i might just remove that reference.

Yes, it's quite a specialised boat, in two respects - ferro AND gaff... so i may just need to be patient for a buyer.

Thanks again.
