I'm nearing the end of the dingy refurbishment program and need to position the new rowlocks sockets. However, what is the recommended bum position to rowlocks distance?

About 14 " seems about right.

They are a bit less than 15 " in a Mirror dinghy ... deduced from the building instructions.

And if you scale these from the photo in an 8ft dinghy, they work out at 14" (at least for the main, aft, pair)

Sorry but I am not going to uncover the Mirror or uncover and turn over the tender to measure either!

Probably preaching to the converted, but... The best thing about that Mirror is the fact that it has two sets of rowlocks. Each mount can be used to balance the boat, but in addition, you can use the forward set from the centre thwart to push row, very useful as you try to catch hold of the boat/dock/pontoon. I would however suggest using "old fashioned" metal gear as you can put your back into it without the oars springing out of them.

Rob.

Mine doesn't. No second set provided with the kit or mentioned in the building instructions. At least not when I built mine.

Or did youmean the dinghy in the picture
