I agree re buying from US. I bought a Standard Horizon CP1000 about 14 month ago for £780 inc all import and delivery charges. Cheapest in the UK at the time was a tad under £1200

I can't recall of the top off my head, I'll have a look at the invoice over the weekend. It was a US trader advertising on ebay. From order to delivery was 10 days.

well the garmin in uk comes with the new G2 maps ready loaded for UK. If you buy from US, I m sure the cost of the charts will erode any advantage.

This may have been the place. Around £575 plus delivery and import costs. Just shows how badly we are ripped off.

With the strength of £ v $ at present importing from the USA is tempting but don't forget applicable VAT & Duty. Doing a quick calculation on a Raymarine C80 Bundle the USA will save circa £140. From a personal perspective I would sooner pay this and be able to collect or visit a UK based retailer.

It is a personal choice; you pays your money and takes your pick.

No you can buy GpsMap 450 and 550 models from USA with the built in UK charts.

PS: ICOM US VHF Models can all be switched to International (ie Euro) frequencies in the setup menu on the sets. The only think they lack is M1 and M2 channels. 5h1t the CE mark, US models are every bit as good as EU models all made in the same factory on the same lines anyway. If your over preoccupied at regulation assisting a warped market then feel free to worry about such trivial irrelevance.

Thanks Al it was the layout that swayed me towards that one with the space, I’m hoping for the here’s my new boat thread soon.
