Hi,

I need to modify the launching trolley to suit our new tender. I need to make the side supports lower and closer together. There are loads of mail order places (for example Towsure, Autotow) who sell brackets and fittings, but these are all that sort of yellow zinc plate that doesn't look like it would last five minutes after launching and recovering in salt water.

Anyone know where I can get similar but properly galvanised bits? Or alternatively has anyone found those "yellow" fittings are actually OK?

Thanks in advance, Tony S

these are "passivated" metal, which means a very thin layer of e.g. chromium or cadmium. They will never be as good as galvanised stuff in a heavy duty environment.

You can always get them galvanised after buying them, or slap some Coldgalv or Spraygalv on to prevent corrosion.

From your local engineering / welding / or farm shop.
