And if you've got a gps 'mark' it so that next time you can get there before they do. He, He, he.

Passed both these places a couple of week-ends ago .... actually ended up seeking shelter in the latter .... just us and the lifeboat out at that time.....

As we left the headland around the North Smithic Cardinal buoy, there were loads of boats fishing around the 10m edge up to the headland.... not much after (but that could be due to a force 6 NW.. Also when we did leave our shelter going North, we ended up going a bit further out due to all the fishing gear, which was a pain to manouver around in 2 m swell.... But most of this seemed to be around the 10 m edges ... guess there must be something to catch there ....

Would take care in Easterly wind though... NW definetly out of Brid... and keep to the shelter of the headland....

You could take a trip out on a charter boat and see where he takes you (hand held GPS could be useful). Join a local boat fishing club - tackle shops should be able to point you at one. Hang around the car park / slip and chat to some of the other anglers. May be worth a post here also - http://www.fishingwarehouse.co.uk/ubbthreads/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=UBB6

The way me and my mates go about finding fishing spots is either to follow others or failing that take a look at a chart and find a reef or sandbank, or any unusual variations in the sea bed. This was a few years ago and now we're pretty confident fishermen. Having said that, finding a reef or seabed variation isnt hard in Jersey! Also (round here anyway) the fishing activity is pretty dead from HW +2 to LW +1, so i imagine the tides will affect your area also.
Good luck!

cheers 4 that ! i was away at the weekend but the boat and the lads went out and caught a couple of pollack tho they had an "experience" ofer a wreck when the depth on the fishfinder went from 80' to just 14' ? my m8 described it as tho a giant shoal of fish went under the boat !
