First things first, this is not for me, but for someone I know.

Money no object. Humungous motorcruiser @ 80m (280') - fully crewed.

Boat and tenders will be taken by crew to the appropriate location and the passengers will fly and be collected.

They are looking for recommendations for places to stop and visit in the Med, but based out of Italy - probably south of Naples. They possibly will want shore access at least every other day, but they are also looking for pretty bays or other beautiful vistas from anchorages.

Personally, I've only ever been to mainland Italy and always north of Rome, and I've never sailed in those parts either so I have no idea. The person I'm enquiring for can obviously rely on their crew to advise them, but they would like to have some other ideas for their own research.

In mind already: Ravello , Sorrento, Ischia, Naples - day tips to Etna/Vesuvius/Pompeii.

Particularly wanted are recommendations for other day trips and good (upmarket) restaurants.

I completely understand that people may not want to share their secret finds - but it would be nice to give some pointers to this person.

thanks everyone.

(I will cross-post in the liveaboard section too).

Aeolian islands, especially Stromboli at night. Also Panarea where the jet set go

Taormina is another must see

Some other suggestion are on my blog www.zebahdy.blogspot.co.uk

I'd second the Aeolian Islands, and a mobo will do well in summer when (reputedly) there is b/a wind.

Panarea, posh as it is, has a VERY SMALL harbour, and I am not sure it would accommodate a 80ft yacht.

After visiting the Aeolian islands, walking up Vulcano, anchoring off Stromboli, we found Etna a bit of a disappointment. It's an interesting trip up, by road, cable car and four-wheel drive bus but you don't go anywhere near the top. Take warm clothes!

We enjoyed the offshore islands more than the mainland, Ventotene in particular.

In the north, Bay of Genoa, Camogli is one of the most remarkable places we have ever visited. Never seen buildings like it anywhere.
