Where to buy Lanolin or lanoguard?

we bought a .5ltr tub from a chemist in Ruthin North Wales, just happened to stop at a chemist on the way to the boat. If they had it, I would expect most chemists to carry it.

Don't bother. I tried once (just to disprove the legend). Totally useless. That stuff seems to have nutricious properties. Prop totally fouled up in 8 weeks.

has anyone tried mixing lanolin with chilli powder and applying to prop?

Yes! I used Blair's Mega Death sauce as it is really not fit for human consumption! It's sheer evil in a bottle, not to be messed with! Substantially hotter than run of the mill hot sauce, it was bought for me years ago by some well meaning, but totally misguided relative. Check out the Scoville heat
scale here... http://www.chilliworld.com/factfile/-scale-of-hot-sauces.asp

I had my alloy 2 blade prop re-powdercoated and then smeared Lanoguard all over it. I finished off with a liberal coating of this sauce and left it to marinade with the Lanoguard. Most will wash off, but a percentage will remain and this stuff is so strong, those little sea crustaceans will hopefully give it a wide berth.

I shall report back on next lift out.

Tried Lanoguard on the prop a few years ago and it was no better than bare polished bronze. Latest wheeze is a highly polished prop coated with black permanent marker. Results last year good enough for me to try it again this year.
As I had a bottle on the boat Lanoguard is proving very useful for lots of other jobs this year though. Coated the new shaft coupling to keep the rust off, and general lubrication including rudder pintles (where mineral oil drips had stained the transom), gas shut off valve, cam cleats, etc. Also trying it on stainless machine screws into aluminium plates where I want to remove them regularly and Duralac looks a bit too permanent.
