Where to buy a boom tent

Does anyone know a good source of these? Not a flashy one that's all enclosed for sleeping under, just a simple one to keep the rain out of the cockpit. Ideally extends to backstay so with opening for topping lift.
Compass do one that's pvc - don't fancy that - and a canvas one "with carbon fibre rods" that seems very expensive.

I bought some fabric from CJ to match the sprayhood and made one, very simple, cost me about £60. I'm sure if you found a curtain maker they'd hem the edges and stitch some ties on for you.
 
Coincidently, I've ordered one today from our local sailmaker. Essentially a rectangle of acrylic canvas with some straps to go over the boom (save taking the lazyjacks off) and eyelets along the edge for bungee/hook attachments to the guardrail. I thought £100 was a bit pricey, but I need it quick and SWMBO wanted it....
 
Yup.
I bought PU coated acrylic canvas, same colour as the sprayhood material and
had a zip put onto the trailing edge of the sprayhood.
Making up the cockpit cover was done on a domestic sewing machine... the thing zips onto the sprayhood and works either as a boom tent or a tonneau. When its a boom tent the sides are held out by an arch of fibreglass tent poles bought from Tiso.
Total cost was about £45 with enough canvas left over for some halyard bags and a windlass cosy.
 
I bought an unused ex-army bivvy tent from Anchor Supplies for £20. Its about 6'6" long and about 7' wide which suits my Galion 22.

It is made of heavy canvas so it doesn't flap in the wind. You will need to cut out the netting at each end. It has 'doors' at each end. I fix mine over the boom tied to the end of the boom and a line to the mast. The doors at the front can be tied to close it off. The rear doors are tied to the pushpit rails. The guy lines are tied to the guard wires on each side. I might get round to flexible poles to arch the the tent.

Very simple to make yourself. Cut up an old sail into a suitable sized rectangle. If it can be thrown over the boom have a split at the rear to pass either side of the topping lift. Attach forward end round the mast. The sides to the top guardrail and the back to the backstay(s). If you have lazyjacks attach below the boom with straps - Eureka. Cost minimal.
 
Simple Boom tent needed? Simple answer is to make it yourself.

A couple of points to note:
If you intend only light summer use, buy some tenting fabric. adequately reinforced, it'll be strong, waterproof and fold up small. Make it yourself.

I'd not suggest old army tents or heavy canvas or PVC as these can cause more strain on other fittings like guardrails and stanchions. They can also be gloomy underneath.
My own preference is for some light coloured tenting fabric, as this can double up as a sun shade/bimini top without losing light to the cabin, and tenting fabric can be sewn with a domestic machine (including any reinforcing patches over chafe points and at the corners). You can also dispense with hammering grommets in the corners and just sew on webbing tape, hence eliminating any corrosion stains when you stow it up wet. Any more advise, just PM me.
