Where to Anchor

Hello I tried to search this but cannot find the search that was here before keep getting direcred to Google!
Anyway we are new to East coast based at Titchmarsh, we have managed to escape from the Soutrh coast!!. I was hoping to find some nice overnight places to anchor near Titchmarsh or perhaps a day sail away. Being nearer and doing shift work its now within my grasp to finish work early get down to the boat and 'just get out' for the night. Any help apreciated. Sorry if this has been done before but could not use search. Also if Tiller Girl looks in would also like advice re Thames Est Thanks in advance PS Draws 1.8M Fin Keel

Plenty of room for 1.8m, as Sailorman says, buy a copy of Colin Jarmans East Coast book, or Jack Coote's East Coast Rivers. They have all the wee anchorages in. With a Malo 36, you can sail within the radius from Dover to The Alde in a reasonable day.
 
You will be able to pick up a mooring on many occasion. If you intend to stay on the boat (rather than slope off to a pub) the worst that can happen is you are asked to move on. Most folk don't mind their mooring being used as it ends up being a reciprical arrangement for some (those not based in a marina!!).
 
Hello - you've got an ideal east coast boat then /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif My wife thinks our 1.7 fin keel is about 3' too deep and one keel short of ideal.

Come to the Blackwater - good anchoring off Osea Island.

As others have suggested, buy a copy of East Coast Pilot. It's just come out again in an updated second edition, whereas the rival 'East Coast Rivers' last came out 4 years ago.

Similar topic; Can anybody suggest good places to dry out for a small centreboard boat? Charles Stock recommends looking at the area prior to doing so to ensure theres no obstructions, but are there any particular places, remote creeks etc, where people often do this?
