where the wind blows?

Hello, just simple question...

On weather reports when they say it's a "southerly wind "or "southerly "or "south wind" or "wind direction in south"; does that mean that it is blowing from or to the south? does it differ in the US?

cheers

Incredible.

When I lived in South Africa, Southerly winds came from the south. Now that I live in the UK, they still appear to come from the south......... They are just warmer....

Similar. They both come out of the north but the ones down south are so damn hot.

As far as I know hot air rises, so why it gets hot when it runs down to the bottom of the earth I don't know. Unless of course, the earth is the other way up. food for thought....
