Hi,

Had a look at the back today while the engine was idling and it looked like the cooling water was coming out through the gap between the transom mount of the outdrive and the outdrive itself.. It was basically flowing over the drive..

Does this sound right??

I always thought cooling water exited somewhere below the water line..

I think SX ex gas comes out of the winged bit immediately above the propeller itself, i think duo prop versions come out via the prop, but could be wrong on that.
Maybe your bellows has split, to be honest i would have thought its difficult to tell with the leg down, maybe trim it up to its max for a better look?
This is a good site http://forums.iboats.com/volvo-penta-i-o-inboard-gas-engines-outdrives-444/
EDIT Sorry just read Grahams post above, i didnt realise there were holes in the bellows.

Like the Mercruisers the exhaust bellow is designed to allow cooling water & exhaust to leave from the bellow underside.

While running at speed the exhaust is routed down to the prop hub and out into the drag behind it.

Thanks.. I will have to lift the drive and see if I can inspect it and make sure its all in place.. If for nothing else than peace of mind..
