Motored a fair way today just trying to find somewhere to stop. Plenty of stunning looking moorings, bankside, but we draw a bit too much.
So, currently stopped outside tescos at Reading and trying to plan the next couple of days.
It would be nice to be secured somewhere for the weekend to avoid travelling, but also conscious of the fact we need to start heading back Monday at the latest.
So, long story short... Is it worth us heading up above Reading tomorrow, are we likely to find a peaceful mooring somewhere? Really want something peaceful and remote if possible as we're fairly self sufficient. But, no keel and a 1.01 metre draft means we need to be a bit careful at the edges.
Or, Start heading back tomorrow for somewhere we know?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Nice deep moorings up at Goring. About 2.5 hours upstream of where you are now. Good pubs & shops. Yobbo problems unheard of (hope I'm not tempting fate)

You're close to Pangbourne, which is a great place to moor up. One lock further on is Beale Park which is quieter and you could always walk back to the pubs and shops of Pangbourne from there. If you do visit Pangbourne, go to Greens the butchers and pick a couple of their award winning pies up:encouragement:
Avoid the chip shop, it's rotten with a hygiene rating to match!

What Actionmat says.
Beale Park for me,peaceful, plenty of room for the dog to run around etc.
If your worried about depth, nose in,bum out,get on the bathing platform and have a poke about with a boat hook.Old School depth sounder:)
Mostly mud anyway.Enjoy.

Many thanks all, greatly appreciated, and a big thank you to B1 for advice over the phone :)
The intention was to go through to Goring, but a helpful lock keeper phoned ahead for us and was informed that it's packed up there.
So, stopped at Pangbourne as the whole river seems busy and we can wander up to Beale Park tomorrow.
Nice and peaceful here, and thanks for the pie recommendation :)

Dave, would be great to catch up, not sure where we'll be on Monday. Plan is to stop up this end until after the weekend but knowing us we'll have got bored and be back at Windsor by then so will certainly let you know
