Oh, I'm going there - not this year, not next year, but I will get there.

In 1984 Brigitte & I were walking past a marina. I pointed to a yacht not to dissimilar to Guapa and declared in a solemn voice: "I'm going to get me one of those!". At the time I made 110 p/w and they did cost 300K (in 1984 money). Yet, now I've got one.

As a family, Vanuartu and around abouts that area. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
We'll see how it goes, start off the big trip in 6 weeks. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Personally I'd like to sail around Cape Horn, just to be able to say 'I sailed round Cape Horn. in a 43 foot yacht.' But SWMBO wont have any of it!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Got to be the places where it's too dangerous to sail now.. Indonisian Islands, Philipines, Malaysia and on to China and up the Yangtse a bit......

Did an incredible delivery on a 51' ketch about 27 years from Taiwan to South of France.... Fantastic... would love to have been able to stay sailing up around those areas more and always yearned to do so again.... shame its so dangerous now.

Snap! that was mine as well... Had a horrid crossing from NZ to Port Jackson... sailed in -- dream came true -- longing for a shower etc.. called up Port control and was sent to sit on a buoy not far from the entrance.. for Customs and immigration.... 5 hours later they turned up! took a little of the romance out of it but still exciting to see the Opera house and the Bridge from my own boat... half way round the world....

My mooring - 100 yards from here! But insurance says April-October so It'll have to be Monday week. Shame to miss all this lovely weather. Horrid next week they say so p'haps they know something!!?
