Not true: Last time I went through the Raz the rain was absolutely hammering down, leaving the lighthouses as nothing more than a grey outline. I was the only one on deck. Someone below kept cracking the hatch open quarter of an inch and poking a digestive out. My challenge was to get it to my mouth before it disolved.
 
If you're passing through the Raz a visit to the Ile de Sein is well worth while. A bit tricky with tides though.

Narrow streets, no cars and people talking Breton.

I was keen to do that but, as can be seen from the photo, vizibility wasn't too good, and deteriorating, so I decided that 'discretion is the better part of valour' and chickened out!
