Where is this? You'll never guess.....

Re: Where is this? You\'ll never guess.....

Slacken off the topping lifts? Oh wait.. gas struts. Fiddlin' modern boats..

Or how about a long zip tail that goes beyond the leach, and has its own tie down? Will lash to the boom end (or in a velcro'ed pouch) and has a zip tail long enough to lead forward so SWMBO can pull the zip slider forward whilst someone else holds the tail on the zips themselves. I'd draw a diagram but it's late.

Re: Where is this? You\'ll never guess.....

The lazy bag needs to be squeezed before the zipper can be closed. That's why she climbs up there . /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: Where is this? You\'ll never guess.....

Excuse me my poor articulation. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I mean that if somebody doesn't press the bag and the sail from the sides the zipper halves dont get close enough . The boom is so high that it is impossible to do it from the cockpit. Ok ?

Re: Where is this? You\'ll never guess.....

In English everything could describe a woman. Haven't heard about a bag before. Tart is more familiar 'cause my father in law asks after every dinner if anybody wants tart ? His SWMBO never asks that question ?

Without seeing it up close, I can't say further, except that putting a long (8" to 1ft) tail on the zip - you'd have to have a new zip put in the bag to do it - you could pull the zip and slider closed.

Or (sudden lightbulb moment), how about a couple of eyelets in the seam above the bag bits, where the lazyjacks attach, in line with the end of the zip, you might have a couple of 2' lines which clip to the eyelets, and throw each over the other side of the boom so as you pull them, they pull the sides of the bag together without having to climb up?

Getting close?

Re: Where is this? You\'ll never guess.....

In a way that last propousal would sole part of the problem but we would need 3 pairs of these ropes to tighten the bag. And thin it's not KISS anymore.
But now when I look at the photo again maybe the sipliest solution would be a walking bridge on top of the solar panel . Made of carbon fibre sandwich board. Hmmmm? Have to think about that ...... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
