Where is the best place to mount an EPIRB?

Last 3 EPIRBs have been mounted at the aft end of the cockpit.
Never had an auto-release but they've not come to any harm.

Not sure if the layout of your Moody is similar to ours but we house our EPIRB horizontally in clips behind the top of the companion way inside the boat, that's on the underside of the recess behind the top step. It can be reached from the cockpit and of course from the companion way. The recess is created by the underside of the front of the centre cockpit overhanging the engine cover by a foot or so. I can provide a photo but not until we get put to the boat in Turkey in April.

Good place for a manual one, but the OP has an auto release which needs to be mounted outside.

Thanks for the info but I agree with Pete, my needs to be externally mounted to enable the auto release to work unencumbered. (Sincerely hope it never has to!)
