Somebody is bound to get it.

Ah ha! I know this place its the Lake of Monteith.

Actually, it is that wonderful summer retreat called Hoganfield Loch where many a grand soirée is oft to happen. In a past life many of my clients came from the scheme just below the water tower in the background. Many of the schemes streets are named after Stevenson's lighthouses, the irony of which was lost on many.

Anyone care to guess the name of this famous scheme?

I would add that this view illustrates why Glasgow is "That Dear Green Place" and has one of the highest percentages of green space in Europe.

Easterhouse ?

I sailed there in the 60's and 70's in Kestrels. Glasgow School's Sailing Club 'The Brassbounders' were based there.

Many many happy memories! I think I got the Number 54 bus out....

Donald

It is indeed Hogganfield Loch.

So were you a Polis then?

Memorably, several years ago Tony Blair went on the Radio Clyde Breakfast Show, and took questions live on air.
Q. Prime Minister, ah need some help wi ma scheme an' that. Can you help?
A. Well, Alastair. We've got a number of schemes that might be able to help people just like you. Youth Opportunities, apprenticeships, back to work schemes etc etc.
(TB clearly hadn't understood the question, and the DJ didn't help)

Alastair. "Naw - its ma Housing Scheme!"

LMAO - I nearly drove off the road!

Yes I learned to sail there too in the early / mid 60s. Heron dinghies with 29th Glasgow Sea Scouts. Number 38 bus I think from Newlands.

You might be right - I got on the bus at Eglinton Toll. Did the bus go to Riddrie?

I sailed Herons and Gull in the 159 Glasgow Sea Scouts. Small world!

Not a Polis. My family on Mum's side are all from Cranhill and I worked with the Community Education Department of Strathclyde Regional Council for a few years on a number of outdoor related projects.

The home where I was raised and where Mum still lives is down the hill behind the water tower, a bit more beyond towards the River Clyde.

I never sailed on Hogganfield Loch. I learned to sail at Strathclyde Country Park and Hillend Loch, Caldercruix.

In the late 50’s and early 60’s we sailed Enterprise dinghies there, also using Toward castle as accommodation, we sailed the dinghies around the Clyde and up to Tingabruach. Donald Bruce being the leader and organiser of training and maintenance of the boats through the winter close season.
