We left Windsor Marina this morning (downstream) just before 0900 and passed through the next 5 locks all on our own. We passed only 3 boats coming upstream and noted that there were NO boats moored on the Eton bank at Windsor.

Have they banned boats on the section below Windsor that I've not been told about?

In 30 yrs on thr Thames I have never seen this in August.

'Lympixs ain't it - they've frightened everyone away!

Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, River Thames - if you ain't going to it, keep well clear! :):)

It is v quiet. Seem to get about four hundred trips past the willows by the Oakley Court boats, but they're ferrying Team GB from there to the rowing. Lots of EA and police about too, but not many actual boats. The police seem a bit bored, spending all day going up and down the same reach over and over and over again...

EA did a bit of license checking and had a word with some **** who did a full power u-turn abeam me, then proceeded to open up to 30kts between Windsor marina and Oakley court in a sports boat. Duh, bit daft with the EA everywhere :)

We were on the Brocas last weekend, it was relatively busy then, and off there again on saturday.

Seems they've done too good a job at keeping people away!!

Make the most of it ...... 17 RCC boats on their way round at this very moment...and a few more following shortly after .

Had a pootle from T&K up to Mapledurham...... Passed three whole boats in the opposite direction ..... It's like a ghost town but still quite pleasant!

When are they arriving ?

Few staying at Queenborough tonight and coming up Friday, few others Saturday and one or two following on.
The advance guard,a Broom 35 sedan snuck in last week.
Think they are all heading for the boat club opposite the lock just above Hampton court. ?
Keep an eye out for the geezer who owns this boat he is very rich, charge him double.

Ah, so here you all are. Abingdon - heaving with boats. Big cricket match going on very hot evening and every mooring taken. :)

20 GPH :D After 19 years with a full displacement hull running on the fumes there's enough pennies set aside to allow the replacement to do what she was designed for when we get the chance. And I aim for those chances to come along a lot more often than previously ;) The dream was a long time coming - now we intend to enjoy it and s*d the expense :)

Problem with my old Broom hull is a anything over 5 knots and the Tugs and Ro-Ro ships start complaining about my wash.

You're not the only one. Soon after clearing the barrier, London VTS called us up to say they'd received a complaint about our wash........ from the Woolwich Ferry :D We were only doing 9 knots at that point.
