We are presently wintering in Alghero, in NW Sardinia.
Thinking of heading east in April down the coast of Italy to Greece and on to Turkey.
Would welcome any suggestions re anchorages, moorings and marinas en route and. particularly, in Turkey.
Also place to winter boat, preferably out of the water.
Usual considerations – cost, accessibility to airports, security, etc.
Any other relevant points welcome
Boat dims. – 42’ x 12’ x 7’ 12.9 x 3.8 x 2.2
Thanks in advance

You may want to check out the current status of proposed grey water regulations in certain areas of Turkey - previous threads on this forum can provide background

If you are intending to sail between April and lets say Nov then you could sail across to Greece, up the Evia gulf accross the Aegean to Lesbos down the East side if the Aegean. Sign into Turkey at say Kusadasi and hop between Greece and Turkey on your way down (don't sign out just remember to change to the correct flag for the country you are in), until you get to Marmaris and spend the winter at Yacht Marine. We are 13.2 x 4.1x 2.1. They charge by lenght not area it costs us 235Euro per month plus electric & water, thats in the water, special on shore deals are available. Yacht marine is safe, secure and really friendly, they even take you to the Istanbul boat show free of charge.

As far as the Grey tank issue, that is or will only be applicable to the West side of Goceck/Fethiye area.

Come and enjoy.

Good evening:

If you are going to take the advise of miyagimoon you want to hope that you are never asked for your passports in Greece.

I used to mess around with this sort of stuff until I spent a month under arrest in a harbour awaiting a court case which was eventually dropped but vowed never again.

Cheers

I have wintered in Yacht marine 4 years and this year in the new marina in Cesme. Both are good but Kemer and Alanya both have their fans. Cesme is good for checking in. Agree about hopping over to Greece and back, we have done it for years but will probably not do it now.

We wintered over in the new Alanya marina 09-10 and overall were well happy with it.

It’s got great staff, good facilities, inc swimming pool and tennis courts (albeit lots was still being built while we were there), shops, travelhoist, good surfaced secure hard, chandler (small but can get stuff in), great bar, good social life. It’s also pretty close to Cyprus with cheap fuel, Brit bits etc.

The nearest airport is Antalya – pricey cab ride, but a great cheap shuttle bus service.

The cons were it’s a little way out of town (but loads of buses), the workshops weren’t up and running, and they did suffer from quite a surge during a blow while we were there. I believe this is being/has been fixed.
