Okay, so I panicked when I said Oklahoma.

As the Superseacat Three was busily sailing between Helsinki and Talinn all weekend, unless you instructed the skipper otherwise you had to be in one or the other. As pictures of Helsinki show a different type of lighting gantry than the one in your photo my guess is the photo was taken in Tallinn, but you turned round same day and came back on the same or later sailingt.

SUPERSEACAT THREE SILJA LINE EM3 08.10.2005 0930 TALLINNA EM3 08.10.2005 1055 TALLINNA

SUPERSEACAT THREE SILJA LINE EM3 08.10.2005 1600 TALLINNA EM3 08.10.2005 1630 TALLINNA

SUPERSEACAT THREE SILJA LINE EM3 08.10.2005 2115 TALLINNA EM3 09.10.2005 0800 TALLINNA

SUPERSEACAT THREE SILJA LINE EM3 09.10.2005 1205 TALLINNA EM3 09.10.2005 1240 TALLINNA

And it is due to leave Talin this evening at 18.50

Now do I win the prize?

Possibly herring consumed.

Even possibly is disgusting.

I like my Herrings smoked and served by SWMBO in her nightie at breakfast.

Very impressed - was in Helsinki and went over to Tallinin for Sat night. Must have been nice before being turned into one vast tourist shop! Lovely restaurant - 33 Vene - and beautiful light.
There was a fleet of Aaland galeases in Helsinki harbour when we got back - lets see if these photos come out midget size too! Thanks for resizing them!

I was sailing yesterday pm and saw the ships "parading" in. Better weather today than yesterday. It was a shame I only had my phone camera with me. Could have been good pics with a decent camera.

Its Herring time - there is an unpronouncable (to me anyway) variety that abounds at the moment.
Also wonderful chantarelles from the forests. Brought back a litre or two and about to make a mushroom omlette.
Does Joe have any particular recipes for the mushrooms?

Tallin Central Port .... and Mustamae in background ...

My apartment is about 10mins walk from there on Narva mnt ....

Across the bay is the Olympic Marina .... built and used for the 1980 Moscow Olympics - sailing was conducted in Tallinn ... I have one of the official Regatta Charts handed out to crews / tacticians for the areas etc. It is also the location of my recently sold Race boat ....

Tallinn is a good place - but unfortunately the 'Lager-louts' have found it and it has become a pain and embarrassment - seeing Brits behaving like idiots ... it even made headlines in local news ... trying to find a solution ...

Tallinnpissup.com etc. - dunno how much longer it can carry on ...

It has got to a stage that many bars and clubs in Tallinn - despite what the web-site says - refuse entrance now to these groups and also to anyone not dressed suitably.

There is a problem that profits go up - but many locals and 'better' clientele stay away. So what to do ?? They try and keep standards up - but the groups push them back down ... bars make money, streets are full of loud-mouthed pissed brits on stag-parties etc.

Catch 22 really ... some accept the brawl and noise - making money, others want it to calm down - but then money and profits fall .....

When you think that a good stag party there will cost - even with flights etc. there and back - less than a mediocre one in UK - you can understand the attraction ... as well that you have stunning "scenery" in the bars and strip joints !!

BUT one catch .... and apologies to Estonians on the forum - I know there is at least one ! Estonian people are 'cold' and not so open to others .... so thoughts of wild nights may not be so easy as people think .....
