I need a few metres of 10mm2 electrical cable.

I've emailed, and phoned, Merlin in Poole for a price, but haven't heard back yet.

I suspect their stuff will be expensive......do I really need such high quality cable, or could I make do with cheaper auto cable?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Don't any of your chandlers keep the common sizes? Tinned is preferable but most boats in the UK are constructed using untinned as it isn't written in the rules as in the USA.

Sounds like someone is wiring in an anchor winch? I got mine, 25mm2 solid multi strand, plus crimped lugs and a ratchet crimper capable of handling 25mm lugs straight from my nearest electrical wholesale outlet, plus the Egatube fittings and conduit to put it all in at an absolute fraction of the cost from automotive or marine suppliers. Its been in a few years now with no problems whatsoever.
