and manual? Got to the bottom of my Yamaha 2.5 4 stroke outboard starting problems this weekend. At least the yamaha dealer did. Dirty fuel blocking the carb. I asked if this was something I could sort out myself, after all I used to dismantle the carb on my old Morris Minor. No guv, you need a special yamaha screwdriver. So where do I get one? It would be nice to be able to fix a simple problem like this if there isn't a yamaha dealer handy.

thanks for any hints!

Indubitably Dealer tosh.

Can you photograph the screw/bolt head, sounds like a Torx or similar. A penny or similar to give scale would be helpful.

I'll have a look on the outboard. I think I might try pressing the dealer a bit first as it would be the simplest way to make sure I get the right one.

[/ QUOTE ] I did not hear a description that could possibley lead to that conclusion. Torx screw drivers and bits are readily available, from Halfords even, if that is what it should happen to be.

However there are a multitude of security screw tops that do require less readily available screwdivers.

Here is a pretty good selection in a set bought from Maplin (click the pic)

It wasnt a conclusion Vic, it was a serving suggestion. Thats why I asked for a photo to identify the head.
