The thingy to check/fill up the hydraulic fluid on my steering system.
Volvo stamped on steering wheel so assume volvo system.
Is it hiding behind the wheel somewhere or down by the actuating cylinder in stern of boat.
Boat not responding to helm quite so quickly when altering course.

B.....y hell where did all that wash come from.
Er looks like a B....m to me.

Well mine is volvo and it is secured to the transom in the engine compartment, however if you do not have much space, it may be somwhere quite obscure !

Is it hydraulic steering or Power assisted steering, you dont say. If its a hydraulic system then the filling hole will be at the helm pump, if its power assited then the resvoire will be on the engine mounted pump.

Yeah! I know its running rough, but your lucky its running at all!!

Purely hydraulic.
No power assistance, but does have autohelm.
Helm needs to be turned rather more at the moment to change direction than when boat first arrived.
Minor point but a bit disconcerting to have to wind wheel furiously for small changes in direction.
Concerned that if little leak , will end up with no method of altering course at all.

I've always found it on the transom. Check the oil level but also the pressure. Might just need more pressure. You need a bike pump. Theres a pressure guage on top. Think you need about 15 pounds but cant remember really.

Oh I'm back, just. After a nine and a half hour marathon car ride.

Trying to drag up some inspiration before relaying the latest voyage of discovery.

Dunno, depends. It should have the stuff you need in the owners manual. It can range from Light machine oil thru to breakfluid and proper hydraulic fluid of varying grades. Thats no help at all is it!

I used to have a crap car like yours too H,. but I sold it. Got a Honda now, so does the journey in half the time.

Or perhaps buy a road map and not rely on boat plotter for the route? B1'll do you a deal on Autoroute short cuts if you ask im nicely.

Yup cant beat yer Hondas owned Honda bikes of various types and Honda cars for years now.
Never had a major problem, come to think of it no minor ones to speak of part from a blown bulb
in 100k miles in my Accord. Never needed to lift the bonnet just had it serviced every 6k

Well now there's a thing. I've got the Accord coupe, done 115K, never lifted the bonnet apart from servicing. Only downside with it is the headlights, they're really crap. Just ordered new "illegal for road use", 100W really BRIGHT xenon bulbs,. 'cos the lights are getting right on my t*ts. Apart from that agree it's an excellent car.

Oh and before I get accused of Fred Drifting, re the original post. Haven't got a clue. Hope that helps.

Learner Unmasked

Got it.

You're Steve Davis in drag. Hence the boring bit.

Must say most of your posts have lived up to your reputation Steve.

Oh H*ll. Outed at last.

At least my witless meanderings are a yardstick against which everyone else , even you, looks good./forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Reminder to self- don't have a go at Brooms or Hondas again
