What about books on the subject, any recommendations?

"The Thames Sailing Barge - a practical guide to the development, construction, rigging and handling of the spritsail rigged barge." by Roger Beckett

Roger Beckett was then the owner of "Reminder". I'm not sure but I think a company was formed to organise charters and trips called Topsail Charters.
I once did a Easter weekend trip on Reminder about 12 years ago. She was skippered by Roger Beckett. Those of us who had chartered her were allowed to have a go at sailing her although the skipper and mate could have handled her perfectly without our help [hindrance?].
Other good reads are "The Sailing Barge" by Frank Carr and "Spritsail Barges of Thames & Medway" by Edgar March [expensive!]
The Sailing Barge Hydrogen is based at Maldon & does day charters and longer trips there are others and the thames sailinhg barge club is i beleive still going. i dont have any contacy details though.
