Anyone know who is the main dealer for Kohler marine generators in the UK? The main Kohler website seems to be down at present

You could try an Machinery dealer who sells stuff like Tractors as Kohler engines were used in Rotovators. Certainly that is where I would go to buy parts for Perkins engines as they are fitted to Massey Ferguson

My Kohlers have Yanmar engines,
could try a Yanmar dealer
but one must find the equivalent part numbers...

what Kohlers model do you have ?
I can download manuals from boatdiesel.com side if you want me to

Atlantis marine in Plymouth.

As well as requesting a price for the service kit, I asked Atlantis to recommend a list of additional spares to keep on board in case of failure and they have come back with this

K344740 Fuel Pump £158.10 +VAT
GM59333 Seawater Pump £252.00 +VAT
A-344753 PCB Relay Card £234.00 +VAT
A-344342 Voltage Regulator £455.00 +VAT

I do have an issue with having my boat in Croatia because getting spares quickly is a major problem and I'm trying to build up a stock of spares on board to cover components that might possibly fail. As you can see, the above items aren't cheap so has anyone got an opinion on how likely these items are to fail. My gennie is 7 yrs old and has done about 800hrs so it gets well used

Contact a company called - Meetens, they are in Surrey not far from Tolworth, specialise in engine parts for industrial engines - supply parts to other outfits etc

Regards,

no idea on your question, but I'd seriously question your need to stock such stuff at these prices. May well be worth keeping their serial numbers and the phone of the company at hand and call for whatever fails when it fails. The voltage regulator that I'd expect being elect. would be easy to cook is a lot, and if it doesn't fail what? It's not like it's killing your vacations, it may feel more like a sauna, but it's not that bad, is it :D
For half that money I'd buy a couple more sine inverters and be able to run almost everything on them (ok not aircon!)

fully agree,

Knowing Kohler delivers good generators, I don't think that anybody on here can tell you that a certain part has more chance of failiure
but it is aswell possible that your genny fails the next time when you're on the boat.

good advice from V to put a good and heavy invertor (or 2 in cascade)

and about the aircon, we have spend 10 summers in Croatia without aircon

Already have an invertor on board so everything except aircon and cooking would be OK. Maybe it's because I'm a cold blooded northerner but I think aircon is necessary in July/Aug. We have to keep the windows closed because of the mosquitos and then the heat inside our boat becomes unbearable on some nights without aircon. Then there is the battery issue. If you spend 2 or 3 days/nights at anchor, you need a gennie to keep the batteries charged.
Agreed a gennie is not essential but its one of those things I wouldn't want to do without
