I managed to replace the bearings and seals on my Yanmar pump in an hour or so.
Be instructive to do it yourself. In fact for long distance cruising it makes sense to buy a new waterpump AND repair the old one.
Try wwwMidlandBearings.com If you can get the seals out without damaging them so you can read the seal No. /size .This info plus the bearing sizes given to the likes of Bearing Man. He could put you in touch with a local supplier or mail them Himself.
The actual job is no too difficult if you,ve a decent set of tools and a bit of patience, its a DIY job if you fancy it!

Which volvo engine is it? Cleghorn waring (www.jabscoshop.com) always come up with the goods for me. I got some seals from them only yesterday for my freeman's ford raw water pump. Under a tenner for everything I needed. There is a wizard you can use on their site to find parts for your engine's pump.
I'm just doing my Bukh's little Johnson F35 3/8" pump. I think most of these older raw water pumps are pretty similar regardless of engine manufacturer.
What has stumped me is how do you get the backplate out of the body to reverse it, or is it not a seperate part (can't see a join in bearing housing), but all part of the main body casting on some of these pumps . Mine is a little scored and it seemed worth doing, or I could machine out some depth to take a home made insert plate.
Doing the seals is the easy bit though, but ensure shaft and bearing is OK or they will soon deteriorate. I assume absence of a raw water strainer and regularly sailing with only a few inches under the hull doesn't help!
