Where can I get a used inboard?

Hi there,

I'm looking to replace the lawnmower engine (really) in place on my hurley 22, with a small yanmar or the like. Does anyone know of a seller of second hand engines, or has anyone out there got one to sell.

There are normally 3 or 4 at the jumble I go to. They all look pretty grotty though - if you are going to do that why not get a new one - it may be cheaper in the long run? I cannot think why someone would sell one unless its become tired.

Rather than mess around with a 2nd hand unit and as you have been using a simple system so far.... Think about this.. a chap I know contacted Honda and installed a Go Kart engine .. 4 stroke 8hp aircooled (cowled fan) recoil starter and almost silent and also cheap.

I know this probably isn't very useful, but there's a YSE8 reconditioned and for sale in the chandlery at Arzal. See, I told you it wouldn't be very useful.

I see your point claymore, why would anyone throw away a perfectly good engine? Hopefully though, there are firms out there who rebuild 'em and sell them on.

A small diesel..you'll be lucky..i have been looking for a good cheap £700 or under 1gm for years now.

All the dealers know that the market is crying out for small engines and so they charge what they like.

An ok 1gm will start form around £850 and go up a lot more.
