My old wooden cruiser has plywood decks covered with a thin plastic material with a small diamond pattern about 3 mm across each diamond moulded in. I think somebody told me this is a dunlop product. The question is where can I buy some? Is there a stockist in the south?

Its available form most chandlers, but you will have a devil of a job to get the old stuff off! I think its called trackmark, but there is a couple of different ones now. Its easily obtainable.

Part of the problem is after 20 +years its not stuck down at all so getting off is not a problem. Problem is original fitter laid it in pieces and now its just peeling upat the edges. Sticking it down is not the answer and as I am replacing toe rails on the deck and other trim it would be good to lay down some new material. I think you are right about the name but I have enquired in bournemouth and told its not widely available.

It is probably Treadmaster and it comes in moulded sheets 4' x 3' and also as step sized pieces. I believe it is a mixture of rubber and cork plus other secret ingredients but I'm not sure. An excellent product but quite pricey. They have a web site at http://www.tiflex.co.uk/marine.html where you can get further information. It is widely available.

Mike, Trust me it's widely available, if it's coming off on its own, that saves you a fiar job, is the substrate ok? You may need to replace some of that. The glue they sell with this stuff is really very very good, two pack and sticks well. You shouldnt have any problems, comes in quite big sheets aswell as in some nice colours.

The decks are abit mouldy underneath so when i strip it off its going to be patch or replace. But truthfully this boat does not have another 20 years life left so repairs are going to be proportionate. After all what I really want to do is move this one on and put my newer Bertram in its place.
