I have been out every weekend and the odd weekday recently and i'm amazed how few boats are about in perfect sailing weather! There must be billions of £s of boats in Cardiff so why do people have them tied up? Several years ago it was common to see a boat sail past the house but now!!!!

my excuse, crew issues - aka swmbo is due to deliver number 3 cabin boy in a couple of weeks so can't jump off to tie up etc...

we do go down regularly to check her over and the odd bits of maintenance !

Cheers

Stu

Probably all still in the bay queuing to get out!
Three locks in sync this morning and still a few left behind, BTW why are some people so damn miserable when going sailing?
Smile for goodness sake, it's supposed be fun!
:-)

We locked out of the barrage 9 AM Saturday expeting a busy lock, just us and two charter fishing boats.

Tides and weather were perfect for a weekend in Portishead so thats what we did . Wind on nose all the way back but still a great sail.

Used the new voltage free autohelm on the way back, boat seems to sail better if I dont interfere too much :-)

You're in my old berth there, we're now a few further down so next time you're in Portishead pop in and say hello to Miss Moneypenny. We saw you on your folding bikes too, which prompted the o/h to suggest we get something similar

We will look out for U next time Rick . The bikes are great for getting about on and for carrying shopping etc. Bit of a pain on our boat as they have to go in the forecabin underway. Salt spray will wreck a bike quickly. I strapped a can on the back to get a gallon of petrol got some comments at the pump about what it does to the gallon. :-)

Only a quick potter up to the Second Severn Crossing this past weekend. Took the grand-daughter so the length of passage had to tailored to a 4-yo's boredon threshold.

I have 250 miles planned for next weekend though.

This is where our CDYC member has gone single handed, said he wanted " To be alone with Marayna" and find some sunny weather!

Bad knee is my excuse. Every time I get on board it seems to set me back a week. I did almost reach Mermaid Quay the last time though!! Barrage lock is my next target...wow!

Well it might just have something to do with this Bl*ody weather! I went for a blast around the holm islands a few days ago. it was meaning 30 and gusting a lot more. no other boats within sight but I could hear half of a mayday unfolding on ch16. I was having great fun until my wiper motor packed up then I had to venture into the cockpit for a lookout as well as putting in a tack! rather un-gentlemanly! (BTW thats spray not cracks in my window!). Yuk. when are we going to have a decent summer!?

Forecasts seem to be all over the place as of late, windwise...a month or so ago we were forecast east 4 dropping to 3 in the afternoon on the saturday, so a fun blast around the holms turned into a "kinel where did that come from moment" when the wind piped up to 40knts and the sea to match it.
