I have a job to do refitting my rubbing strake & it involves filling in dozens of old screw holes in the fibreglass so rather than try fileing out the surface indentations to accept some new filler I am hoping that a multi tool/Dremel type thing would do the job more easily.Would it & if so what should I buy?
I was hoping that ALDI/LIDL would come up with one of their offers & I could take advantage of it but my patience is running out & I need to get on.I have the chance of a Dremel 800 for £25 quid but should I buy it,would the battery be alright & how about buying it without a warantee? Problems problems :(
:) Expert opinions needed. Thanks in advance.

I bought a cheap one from Maplins a few years ago - konked out pretty soon so got my money back and bought a Dremel which is still going strong.

For this type of thing I'd now always buy the Dremel - it will have lots of uses over the years. Is the Dremel new? I'd presume you can get replacement batteries, but at what cost?

Drill the holes out to clean them up (not too deep!), then countersink to give a shape you can get filler into. No need for a Dremel.

However, when Aldi/Lidl do have them, grab one. Mine's seven or eight years old now. I don't use it very often, but when you need one, it's good to have it.

I agree with Stemar, countersink & fill, sounds more of a job for a cordless drill than a Dremel.

A while ago I had a serious job requiring a Dremel type tool, I tried a cheapo first which was useless, no grunt, so bit the bullet and bought a proper rechargeable Dremel with 90 degree elbow attachment & extra cutting wheels, a brilliant bit of kit; about £80.00 from Bisley Tools a few years ago but still proves really useful, when you need one you really need one !

It's not new & looking on Youtube it seems they are not without their faults so I reckon a guarantee is probably priceless, some even reckon Black & Decker are better!

I thought of drilling & countersinking the problem is the gel coat is flaky & in some places the counter sink would have to be at least an inch in diameter.
