Where am I?

There have been some large vessels through that gap, the Waverley and largish Navy Vessels, as well as a few cruise ships.

Here is the Waverley passing through the south channel, which is deeper but with bigger turns in more confined waters.

Looked a bit tight on the shore side on the exit at the E end !

And was going to say, but you got there before me, take the buoys in the OP photo and imagine Waverley coming through at 10 knots, with the paddle boxes on each side almost kissing the buoys on both sides.
Been there a few years back when she had a famously “assertive” skipper. We were approaching from the other side and did a sharpish swerve out of the way.

With a lot of boats, that would be just plain bullying, but I reckon the Waverly could reasonably hoist flag D as they let go the shore lines and leave it there

I've previously heard the Waverley announce arrival at Burnt Isles in 10mins on VHF, is this normal or was that tge 'Assertive' skipper?

She usually goes at more than 10 knots. Would be surprised if she slowed there, as it is straight.

Still to watch the vid of her going through the S channel - never knew she sometimes went that way!

Relatively normal, i think. Channel is pretty narrow.

You can hear her at about 15mins away if the wind is right! (Paddles slapping.)
