Would I be correct in thinking that now is a silly time to sell a like-new spinnaker I found stowed on my boat? Bag has "Hyde" written on it.
After new season starts a better time?
And never having needed to buy a sail, what are spinnakers worth (for boat about 22 foot LOA).

Yes, I think spring would be the best time, but I suspect you'll find from eBay prices that it's barely worth selling.

Better to hang on to it if you think there's any chance you might use it.

I have a spinnaker here that I'd be too afraid to try on my own, but hopefully I will take some more experienced crew at some point in the future.

I don't like spinnakers so best to get rid of something whilst it looks unused, clew etc look like never had a line through them.

Ebay don't give a good historical data, mostly items for sale now and not last spring.

It is symmetrical which I believe is not sought after.

Now a para sail_ that would pique my interest but probably still too much trouble for me_ simple sailing is me.

What sort of boat? That ebay one fetched a good price because it is for a well known class of racing yacht. If it's for a Sonata probably worth something a Hurley 22 not so much.
Wouldn't think time of year matters you either need a new kite or you don't and they don't go off. Now is probably a good time before the sailmaker gets a call.

Just because I found it on my boat does not mean it is for my boat_ I realise now you mention it.

I will have to measure it too now that you mention it, of course.

Thank you.

I sold a spinnaker through boats & outboards. It was much too small for my boat. Not only did I give its dimensions but had photos of it flying on my advert. Thus people could see what shape it was and how it had only one minor repair.

Recently I bought 2 kites via Facebook group.

A mate drew our attention to a spinnaker on eBay that he thought would fit our boat. Used twice and a good price. It was made to fit a Sunsail boat for a motoring industry regatta. We bought it and my other half picked it up in London, the guard on the train wasn't too impressed when he loaded it on board ☹️

It has a company logo and had a couple of bloodstains but it is pretty bulletproof and is our first choice when double handing.

Blood on a spinnaker?

I knew there was a reason I don't like them_ poles that hit forestay, guy lines all over place _ uphaul, downhall.

The Pacific islanders sailors of old would have a fit_ or perhaps like them a lot.

Pacific islanders of old would have loved a polytarp & quite a few still use them.
As for prices i just bought an unused Kemp cruising chute that happens to fit my sabre for the princely sum of 50 quid.
Bargain in my book!
