I love the verse, made a dull morning bright and it managed to cover so much ground.

As to oil changes for diesels, in a past life I ran a fleet of 7.5T and my fitter, a very wise and experienced one, always said change regularly and certainly earlier than the manufactures recommendations, he did them every 3000/3500 miles, and depending on the vehicles use, ie. long distance or short haul deliveries, maybe earlier.
His mantra was 'you know the end of a gallon of oil' meaning cost wise, you dont know the end of not changing the 'life blood' frequently, and that included filters.
Never had an engine failure in anyway connected with not changing 'the blood' and I have taken that advice with me on my boat.
Those who advise frequent changing will be talking from similar experience, it just makes good sense.
