should it be advisable to come to some pre-sailing agreement regarding the use of digital cameras and ownership of their images? I think this is something the sailing press needs to provide guidance on in the near future, and a standard form to be signed on the pontoon prior to departure could be downloaded from the RYA website - although of course a survey might first be necessary. In the meantime there should be a moratorium on all such photos...
And on a recent visit to the south coast went round HMS Victory (another boat that had its rudder shot to pieces) with my 19 yr old son. I was heard to mutter in the queue about the 20 quid tickets. Bloody hell it was worth every penny and I left feeling somewhat smaller than Nelson's 5'6".

Eh, what do you want to do? The copyright always belongs to the photographer.
If you want to prohibit people on your boat from taking photos, sure that would be possible, but why would you want to do that? You were talking about friends, were you not?

Now here's the real question/s - who took the picture and what were you doing??

I assume you are trying to keep the evidence hidden !

Well - if its the kind of friends I have - yes get them to sign everything - including Power of Attorney over their affairs. Otherwise you live under the threat of lifetime exposure of your bare arse if you disagree or poke fun at them. No names no pack drills of course.

Considering the almost Dickensian caricaturing and character assassination that so enhances these pages I'd suggest something a little more robust than the official secrets act.
