When are marinas accepting bookings for 2021 club rallies?

Obviously the government's dates are "earliest, subject to data" but according to the RYA and British Marine Covid "roadmap" calendars I would expect marinas to accept bookings from 12 April (with restrictions on indoor hospitality) but I'm being told 21 June at the earliest. The "rule of six" applies to each boat and picnic table, not the whole party, if I've understood correctly.

Am I wrong?

Tony. As you know last year I organised two low key Westerly (WOA) Meets whilst out of lockdown and everyone was very sensible. In late May the WOA annual cruise is starting in Lowestoft and end in Falmouth in July and is already well advanced with planning, but no bookings are being taken yet. Also in July I am planning another Medway Meet forthe WOA but have been waiting to book berths to nearer the time. If Covid restrictions change, then these events may have to be changed or dropped.

In the middle of a Global Pandemic, are you serious about a boat rally?

I wont be attending any, thats for sure.

I will, and so is just about everybody have spoken to on our pontoons is looking forward to any organised cruises.
The majority of them in " at risk"and the autumn of their lives judging by the wheezing and panting as they walk up the pontoons and clamber aboard.
Most already with their 2nd jabs .
Only so much time left and you are long time ****. :)
Thanks to all organising this stuff, appreciate your efforts, awaiting the emails ............Line em up and lets get boating .
If somebody could do something with the weather as well. ?

100% agree. For most people we've already lost 1/80 of our lives to this. The vaccine appears to be effective so let's get back to living. Anyone disagreeing feel free to remain imprisoned as long as makes you happy.

If any of the bugs can survive that blimming F7 westerly wind blowing down our pontoons for the last six months will be very suprised indeed.
Makes a change from the F7 easterlies we normally have to suffer.
We are well protected from any warm gentle southerlies, should one try to bother us. !

I thought I was lucky to get my first Pfizer jab jab on 12 Feb and the second due on 7 May. This morning I received a text to say there were some spare vaxination slots this afternoon. So today I got my second jab. My parent's inlaw who are both in their mid 80's will not get their second jab until mid April. It does not seem fair that they have to wait.

So, I will be ready for my first cruise at the end of May. Just hope most of the rest of you will be in a similar position.

We are still planning on running our club rally in July. Of course, it will all depend on the guidance and regulations. We are cautious and work to guidance even if it is not regulation.

My view is that it is best to plan in hope and then work with the situation that we find ourselves in. So, I have prepared the skippers handbook, we have tentatively booked the marinas and touched base with the clubs that we plan to visit on our travels.

One reason we have been given for clubs and marinas not taking bookings is that they simply do not know in the resident boats will be going anywhere, leaving an empty mooring for and prospective visitors.
A couple of destinations have stated ~"If you want to book on a individual basis we probably can find you a berth" but we cannot accept club block bookings.

Thanks interesting. We have a little zoom get-together on Saturday to chat about what has and has not been booked I suspect at this point it will be more 'expressions of interest' than anything firm.

One particular small private marina, declined to accept any block bookings, but was prepared to accept a few individual bookings from skippers.
In our case a club visit could involve 10-20 boats. Suspect they felt a bit overwhelmed at times even pre Covid.
Think that any of the big chain marinas will be only to ready to welcome your cash, no matter how big the visiting fleet. ?
