I bought my bayliner 192 August 2007, It has been in the marina ever since launch. I am going to take her out an trailer her when I want to go out as I have not had much use this year. SO, to be on the safe side when trailering I need a spare wheel, does any one have one spare they would sell me or know of where to buy one ?

Chris

The best place to ask is at Prossers, they bring the boats and trailers in, and don't always sell the trailers so they might be able to provide you with one for a small fee.

have you canged the hitch? US trailers comkonly have a slightly different size.. it seems to fit, until it comes off a EU hitch ball...
As a generalisation, US trailers are OK for launch, but arent legal in UK. Yours might be ok, but there are some stories of people losing both the car and the boat en route, and insurance invalid, so do check it out.

Cant help with the wheels.

You need the correct diameter and width, number of boltholes and their PCD. Also the correct profile of the wheel centre.

As said be wary of the hitch and ball sizes. Dont fit a 2" hitch to a 50mm ball. It'll be likely to come off. 50 mm balls have a flat on the top , 2" ones dont but I dont know how the hitches are identified.

Yout trailer make may be a Karavan.

Is it like this?

I can't see if the trailer has brakes. Does it, and are they cable operated? If the answer is no to either point you could be in bother legally. That boat will surely weigh more than 750Kg all up (the lightest Windermere Aquatic list is 838Kgs not including the trailer). In which case you need brakes. Hydraulic brakes are not acceptable in the UK.

You need to check it out as the insurance whilst towing may be invalid, and that means the the car, the boat, everything.

You are quite right. The trailer is illegal, but then that wasn't the origional posters question.
He's just looking for a spare for it.

I'm guessing Prossers sold this boat and trailer to HoneyBee, Prossers bring these boats in on the trailers as I'd quess its the easiest and safest way to ship them.

Prossers do not hide the fact the trailers are illegal, they even say on the adverts boat comes with 'Launch Trailer'. It was also mentioned to me ealier last year(2008) when I enquired about a small speed boat from them.

Now if Chris is wanting to trailer his boat everytime he uses it, then he's taking a hell of a gamble, yes he's not legal, and yes he's not insured so yes he's braking the law.
If it were me, and I wanted to trailer half a dozen or so times a year, I'd pick up a second hand trailer for under a £1k and be happy in the fact knowing i was legal.

Cheers

Your absolutly spot on and seriously considering a uk trailer.

I was sold the boat and trailer on the understanding it was a launching trailer as never had any intention at the time to trailer the boat. But things change in life.

Been having a few chats with my dealer (Prosser's)and just need to make a design on what to do now.....

Any one got a good second hand trailer for sale ?
