Can you guess what's in the background?

"Zeelandbrug":D

Not my photo, but one I saw on East Coast forum, and the forumite who had posted it kindly sent me a high res version which is now my desktop background

Here's what it felt like aboard, just about the time that photo was taken:

and this's what the other yacht in the photo (Dinah, I believe) was going like:

Oh and the obligatory model on the rear deck is available for paid commision work:D (usually in beer:D:D)

Erm.......

I really do have too many to choose from, but then again if I didn't I wouldn't be doing my job properly!

I don't know about a favourite photograph per se, but these were from my favorite week. I got to sail around the island on the 100ft Mariquita, and then got to photograph her from the water later on in the week.

One of the highlights of this job....

You can see a selection here on the Yachting World gallery

Nice photos Graham - is that Mariette in the background in the first photo?
Here is a photo of her taken by a pal of mine at Antigua Classics in 2007 :

I notice in your photos of Mariquita that no lifejackets are being worn, and no lifelines / stanchions are fitted....... I am pleased to see that L/Js were not compulsory! :)

Thanx :)

Yup it was Mariette in the background ahead of us.

re life jackets...no they weren't worn, but we were shadowed by Mariquita's RIB at all times, just as well because this chap was washed over the side seconds after this was taken. The boat heeled, a wave came running down the side deck and washed his feet from under him, he went over in a fraction of a second. From then onwards Jim, the skipper, had the working crew wear "safety harnesses" a thick webbing belt with a spliced clip on each end.

Life jackets were available if anyone wanted them, but it seems that being washed over the side is just "one of those things" on classics!:D

We were beating Mariette around the back of the island having a good tacking duel up towards the Needles until the MOB, after the crewman was returned to us we then had to catch up, which we did to cross the line ahead of them, but we lost on corrected time :(
