What\'s wrong with the boat .....

..... in <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.writeforweb.com/benny331> this picture? </A>

Could we have found the solution to a long running mystery?

Maybe the polluted English waters have started to eat away at it. Or a visiting scouser has been knicking bits overnight.

Ermm
1) Its still not sailing despite the first repair attempt of 6/4
2) it looks as if the cutless bearing has gone?
3) Despite being on port tack, it has falled to give way to the traffic on the right?
4) Its the wrong colour?

I think that bit of GRP is called a ru- ru- ru- RUDDER! Apparently the boat can be steered without it but this can be exciting in a tight corner.

Seriously, my heart goes out to Jimi. The frustration factor must be very near the red line by now.

It's a boat specially designed for mystery tours.

Thanks, Charon, in all seriousness its been an extremely frustrating and stressful time. .. trying to get what should have been a simple repair done .. got to laugh about it otherwise you'd just go bonkers!

Sorry but you used two words that just do not belong togeather when a boat is involved. As everybody knows simple and repair are mutually exclusive in boating.

Sorry, but I have to disagree there. Surely a simple repair is one that one requires just two second opinions, takes less than a month and costs less than half the original purchase price of your boat. Come on, I have to believe that some of the jobs on my checklist are going to be a bit simple. Or am I being a bit simple?

Definition of a simple repair..

One that can be effected with one or more of the following:
a) hammer
b) duct tape
c) WD40
d) winch handle
e) sailing knife
f) whipping twine

Anything else is a complex repair, doubly so if there is any prospect of dropping non-floating tools or components over the side.

OK,

I'll go with your definition - it's just so rare to ever get one like that. Just been involved with a 'simple' job to adjust the pitch on a variable pitch prop. Now into new prop shaft, cutlass bearing, gearbox and still counting........

Ouch!

I just adjusted the pitch on mine (MaxProp), reducing it by 2 degrees. Resulted in 15% increase in egine revs and definitely more power. I can now get over 8 knots in flat water, up by almost a knot.
