What's the reality at Rice & Coles?

A mate is thinking of moving from North Fambridge to R&C and wants to know if the trot boat is reliable. It says on their website that it runs hourly during the week and 9 til 6 at weekends.

Any observations about them generally?

in my experience, that is correct and the ferry man is extraordinarily nice and helpful. However, he doesn't use a radio or a phone so you have to make sure he knows you are there and when you might want picking up. He is realiable though - eg, if you tell you'll be back at 5, he'll be there waiting for you.

From the look of it passing today, he will have a vast choice of mooring. Never seen it so empty.

We #sometimes# had a problem with trot boat, but finally made decision in 1st week of November when the boat operator studiously ignored us at 5:10 on a Sunday. We never came back, one of the reasons we are at Bridgemarsh now.

Funnily enough we are considering moving to Fambridge from Brandy hole mainly coz the wimmin won't do dinghys and I'm getting the ar$e ache with it as coz there's always crappy old fishing boats tied up to the pontoon at B/h , also a mate at work has just bought a Vancover 27 and will be keeping it there also ..

Used to have a mooring at Rice and Coles and found the weekend trot boat fantastic. Not so good during the week, I found a reluctance by the yard boys to take me out and collect.
