What\'s the most overpriced parts you have brought?

I asked my old mate to pick up a Volvo part for me from RK.
An earth cable from the transom shield to the trim rams, it's like the inside wire of a bicycle brake cable (stainless) it has a ring terminal at each end and is about 3-4inches long, comes with a couple of nuts & bolts to attatch it (M4X12 ish)

How much???

£28.15 inc VAT !!!!!!!
Can anyone better that?

After this latest job I have done, overhauling a 190 d636 bmw/mercruiser I would say that these parts in comparison to volvo are far more expensive, so stop moaning about volvo parts, buy a mercruiser then you will have something to really shout about.

Small Volvo Stainless hoses from transom plate to outdrive leg about six inches long £85.00 + vat and no they didnt have any in stock.
Oil pressure sender £75.00.Alarm switch £ 35.00+

Arr. but the Mercruiser bits have built in corrodabilty like leg ram (outer cyl kit only) @£65.00 each + vat that might just last a season and I needed four in one year. and do not forget the special Mercruiser rustsolid exhaust riser with the designed in riser to manifold joint water leaks.

lets go over there I am sure I saw a blue bit of sky

Re: Welcome to the world of Volvo

When we bought our boat in Dartmouth, a few years ago. Tutts could not jump down to the pontoon. So with failing eyesight I looked round the chandlery. 25 quid for two lumps of SSteel and two plasic steps!! After checking the reciept, leaving the chandelers It was 75 quid for the steps!!! We left Dartmouth the same day. In the snow. Arrived Plymouth. Have you ever tried to find your way round a deck covered in snow!!

Two oil filters for ford mermaids, from fishermans stores Brixham, £2.50 each, ludicrous!! Could have got them from unipart for £2.47!! Mind you had to drive five miles for them!!! Shouldn't buy Volvos should ye' Power costs money!!!

Re: What\'s the most overpriced parts you have brought?

An oil filter from V*lspec. Cost me £11.28 each, went to Edmunds Walker lorry shop and bought exact same filters with V***o rit on them an evryfink for just £1.63 each plus vat.

Oh yes, an a stailess steel aerial mount from Byron, cost me a fortune in carvery meals, huge amopunts of alcohol, a soggy McDonalds and a dry cleaning.
