What's the interior diameter of a garden hose..?

I need to buy a skin fitting, and I'm not on the boat. (The hose is used to drain excess water collecting in the canvas cover when it rains. All rather DIY.)

I have a choice: 10-13mm or 19-25mm.

Ignore them .......

If the hose is just a simple drain .... thenj B&Q does a nice line in clear plastic pipe that will look better .... in all sorts of sizes.

But garden stuff is 1/2" and 3/4" ...... so take pick .... but it is a bit cheap on a boat as in your avatar !!

It's tucked away out of sight under the canvas in winter.

(Maybe it's time for a new canvas cover?)

You have either asked the wrong question or are very lazy.
If I wanted to find out the ID of a garden hose I'd look in the garden or B&Q.
If you mean you've got a little bit of hose on the boat and want to match the skin fitting to it, then just treat yourself and buy a new fitting with hose to match.

I happen to be very fond of the color of the hose currently on my boat. It matches my socks.

If it is normal, I say NORMAL garden hose, then it's 1/2" (12.7mm)

Well, like hoses, socks gets holes in them. You could go in for a colour-way change. Perhaps get one of those women who wear scarves twirled around their necks to come and assess your earth colours. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I've just measured the internal diameter of our garden hose and it's nothing like 12.7mm, more like 1.5mm. It's one of those roll up flat thingies on a cassette and I can only measure it when it's not full of water. Hope that helps.

Mine is nominally 1/2" as i can just slide the shank of a 1/2" drill into it. That's ordinary reinforced hose that fits all the usual hose fittings.

[/ QUOTE ]Well it sort of depends because when it's flat it has a bigger diameter one way than the other. It's round when it's full of water but I can't measure it then. I suspect a round fitting would be best because that's what shape the hose is when it has water in.

[/ QUOTE ] What you should hae done was measured the bigger diameter and then multiplied it by 2 and divided by pi (3.142). Something like that anyway.
