What\'s it worth?

I have a Sestrel Radiant hand bearing compass that was on my boat when I bought it in April. It's a little bit "old school" for me (I like to have the HB compass in my pocket whilst sailing...).

The compass itself is in excellent condition, with original box and bulkhead mounting bracket. I think it dates from around 1985.

I do not have a clue what it is worth and therefore what to ask/expect for it: Can anybody help?

Re: What\'s it worth?

A lot more than you imagine !!

It is a classic and worth keeping or if not - sell on at good price ... as to how much ? I haven't a clue except that many would pay a lot more than a modern job !!

Re: What\'s it worth?

As it would be a second hand I'd think it best to look on an auction site. On Ebay type in "Sestrel" to their seach box and then put a tick in the "completed listings" box in the yellow section that then appears as a list of options on left of screen and all results in green show what the item actually went for. Hope that helps

Re: You mean this?

No, mine is much newer than that. I guess ebay could be the place for it, and let it find its' own value in the marketplace.

Re: You mean this?

Yes,
There are a lot of people puting inflated prices on some items on there.

Ebay themselves also do quite well on fees as does paypal.

It is still a very use full resource. I have heard that the inland revenue are or will be very soon taking a very strong interest in it.

Cheers

Iain
