I recently visited a mate's 'garage' (it's really an accumulation of sheds), and he showed me his 'hobbies':
1. 1/2 dozen 1940's/50's motorbikes (including Triumph, BSA & Norton)
2. Several punt guns (one of which he made)
3. an eclectic mix of static engines (industrial & agricultural)
4. A running Alvis 9-cyl aero engine (+ cut-down prop) on a car-towable trailer
5. 2x Rolls Royce Merlin aero engines (one ex the last flying Mosquito that crashed) in bits.
6. Another Merlin (ex Halifax) in rebuild
7. Yet another Merlin, re-built, trailer mounted with cut-down prop as per the Alvis (what a beauty!)
and the real doozy:
8. A Rolls Royce Griffon (ex Shackleton), re-built, trailer mounted with twin, counter-rotatiing cut-down props. This beast is 37 litres
He takes the trailer mounted ones to shows, where he fires 'em up.
Apart from the bikes why?
