Since a certain younger forumite was getting confused with who's who (probably too much 3 day old vindaloo) and due to the fact that Flipper is no more, well the boat not Patrick( /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif), it seemed time to change name.

I will be changing name again when the new boat comes along (so long as the boat isn't called something daft like Mr T.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif oops no don't put that) but at the moment I am without leads, well almost!

Please keep up at the back!

Thought about a timber boat? No delamination problems.... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

and how long did you have the boat before you put her in the water? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Would love one, often look and then think about the varnishing. I HATE VARNISHING! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

As it happends I do rather like this one Cheverton

I don't know why but when I think about my plans for JAC12 I discount wood as not up to it - but wooden boats have been about for much longer than GRP!

So everyone else is shortening names and you want the longest one /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Maybe I should join all the names I've had together to beat that /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oi! I bought her in Dunkerque and had several months sailing before wintering her in a barn. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The Cheverton is rather nice. If you don't like varnishing though, perhaps timber is not for you. esp, not timber spars. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Hi James, Don't worry you'll be back on the water soon.

All the best,

Teddy

Nothing looks quite as good as a well looked after, and varnished, wooden boat /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Plastic just isn't quite the same /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Quite - but with a plastic you tend to spend less time on maintenance and more time sailing.
A nicely turned out classic always leaves an impression, but I would not want to own one.

Can't argue with that at all, but I have to confess to being of the 'I don't mind the maintenance' camp. No choice at the moment but personally, I would love a boat like James', she just looks so good and must handle like a dream
