What's in a name?.....your boat.

Names

A mate could not decide on a name so I said call it what you decided when you found it. Called his This will do, the tender was This will do 2.
My first boat was Janie B, next was a change from Captain Moon to Moon Shadow after I refitted her and did not like the name. Present one Free Spirit after divorce and the previous name was Audry D........... could not live with that either.

Time to admit that the current boat name is a spelling mistake.

When we bought the boat the name was not mentioned in any of the documentation, only the worn transfer script on he side. The last letter looked like an 'a'. After putting 'Wunja' on the registration, insurance, and VHF licence, I discovered that Wunjo is a Nordic rune meaning Joy.

Our first boat an OK dingy was named after my great aunt Florence. My father swore us kids to secrecy as he sign wrote 'Flook' on the stern!
