What's gone wrong ??

A couple of weeks ago after receiving an email telling me that I'm now registered I created a post regarding DAB radios . I was subsequently told that a mod had to peruse the post prior to letting it "through".

How long does it tak for a mod to read a post ??

Although since you made the post on a Saturday it may well have waited until the following Monday before being moderated. By then the forums would have moved on a copy of days and your post would have been several pages down the pile when it did get through the system, for all those at least who don't increase the number of threads to view per page from the default.

At least you came back and were pointed in the right direction. I firmly believe that some would be new members just give up and never come back again.

You're probably right. So what exactly is the purpose of "moderating" a first post? To prevent spam? Subsequent posts appear immediately, so anyone wanting to post spam, etc, can easily do it.

Yes Forums open to all comers with no filtration on the first posts can collect an awful lot of rubbish.

It's professionally run now but I remember all the garbage that sometimes got onto the WOA forum over a weekend while the moderators were out sailing.

Its just a nuisance when it's adverts for Viagra or whatever but it can be stuff that is offensive in the extreme. I think our present moderation of first posts dates from when we were hit by a load of pornography one evening

I remember that evening.

This has just brought the image back to mind and made me wince!
