What's England missing?

Thanks for all the replies. Enjoyed the thread.
It is good to know that all England is really missing is good food,
What's wrong with Fray Bentos pies and beans on toast anyway and no one makes a breakfast like the good old English fry up.

I spent a summer working in France, on our first evening tied up at a little village in Burgundy a hostess and I cycled to the tiny bar.

A couple of 18 or so yr olds were playing pool and apologised profusely asking us to duck or move for certain angled shots; I commented to her, ' if this was the UK we'd be getting threatening hard lad nonsense '.

On another occasion I was with a chum in Fecamp - during the Falkands War actually, a lot of people don't realise the French military gave us a lot of assistance.

There was a big cross - Channel rally from Brighton on by coincidence, and the club was so full of loud, badly behaved Brits we left for a walk through the town.

As my chum and I got to the centre, there was a bunch of young teenagers chatting and laughing; but instead of being hammered on cheap cider or drugs, they were just applauding one who was juggling.

We hadn't said anything but as usual we stood out, a young girl jumped up and said " Vive Les Anglais ! " and she was sincere - I felt about 1" tall !

The British are great at fighting - the French and Spanish are great at living.

The French certainly helped with the codes to the Exocet or more ships would have been sunk.
Mind you that apparently took a threat from old maggie to mitterrand to produce them.
