Am out of contract in a few months, considering Portsmouth lots to do, etc etc

What's the better Marina ?? Not that keen on Port Solent too much of a grudge to get out to sea

Many thanks

I have stayed at both but much prefer Haslar. Gosport can be very badly affected by ferry wash - particularly on the outer berths.

Have you thought of southsea it's one step closer for you save that last trundle round the 27, only 10 mins to gosport by boat so benbridge not much further

Never thought of that one so many thanks and we will check it out, have not ruled out another year at OV as it has been a good move, but I like moving around

The problem with Royal Clarence is parking / getting stuff to & from the boat surely ? Looked at buying a property there and the big mistake they made was not linking the marina to the development. Even the most expensive apartments only got 1 unallocated space.

We've been in Haslar for probably over 10 years now. Really easy access, lovely staff and they keep on top of things. The lower the letter the calmer the mooring. Used to be on F pontoon which was fine, visitors berths by the light ship can get a bit rocky in inclement conditions. Now on C pontoon and extremely calm, also not too far from the car park. Easy to get into town / the Portsmouth ferry from Haslar.

Gosport can get a bit bumpy with traffic in and out of the harbour.

If you do decide on Haslar PM me, they do a very fair referral scheme which will save you £500.

Looking over the harbour at the moment and lovely as the sun has just popped out to say hello :)

Henry :)

Not sure of your boat size, but have you thought of Trafalgar Wharf drystack?

Best of all worlds in my opinion, your boat in a nice dry shed until you want it, then sitting on a full tidal pontoon when you do.

We went out today, and it feels very arrogant to loosely tie up on the pontoon, and walk away as the butler washes it off and puts it away for you!

I've berthed at both Haslar and Gosport. I've never had a problem parking at Gosport but Haslars berth holders car park can get full on busy weekends although there is an overflow pay and display near by. Both Marinas are excellent but my preference is Haslar. It just seems a bit more homely whilst Premier is a bit more corporate. Having said that staff at both have been excellent although Haslar has a smaller team so its easier to get to know them and them you. Gosport being part of Premier has many more marinas that you can stay for 'free', however, I don't remember staying at any other Premier marina whilst I was a berth holder with them. Whilst at Haslar though I frequently used East Cowes and Portland who are part of the same group.
I think you'll be happy at either - enjoy!

Have you tried parking at Gosport Premier at the weekend since they filled much of the car parking area with drystack?

We looked at both when we were moving down to the south coast. Haslar is streets ahead of Gosport. The big negative with both is road access and the truly dreadful traffic. Yes, Port Solent is a bit of a trudge but I'd rather be poodling along on the boat than sitting in a traffic jam, and it gets everything nicely warmed up/cooled down before you open the taps/switch off (delete as appropriate :) ).

Southsea definitely worth a look. Rupert and team were really friendly and helpful even after we decided to go elsewhere. Toilets etc recently refurbed to a very high standard. They also do a valet service if you arrive or want to depart after the harbour gates are closed.

I like Port Solent but the lock is a pain. I've never not been able to find a parking space at Gosport and the traffic down isn't that bad; Certainly better than waiting to lock out.

I don't think it is the dry stack that is the problem moreover the boats on the hard for yearly anti-fouling etc. Most of these boats will be launched for the new season freeing up most of the car park. I've never had a problem parking there.

Working weekends with days off during the week means we've never encountered a problem with the lock. Likewise with the traffic I guess it's more troublesome mid week. I should take our opposite-to-everyone-else lifestyle into consideration when I post.
