What\'s best for removing rusty/greasy fingerprints?

The marina I use are excellant in most ways and very helpfull BUT, whenever they launch, do any work on the boat or move it, they seem to leave loads of grubby prints which only partly wash off with water. Any recommendations on what is the best cleaning agent for white fiberglass please.
Regards Mike

If you want to remove rust from grp try oven cleaner The £ shop sells "astonish oven cleaner" thats about the cheapest! wipe it on thick and leave for 5 minutes and hose off well. if persistant, use tooth brush for a while (not in your mouth of course) it works well for me but you have to read the label and take all the usual recautions. Oh its pretty good on the oven too!

Try the 3M paint shop wipes they hav a rougher side and a smoother side that wont harm your boat plus it removes all sorts of stuff scum, crayons, pen, dirty hand marks etc etc. It also hlps clean up your SS rails really well and is great for the dinghy and seats.

Great all rounder.

Be very careful with Cif or Jif or any cleaner like that as they use a coarse abrasive in the liquid you can feel it between your fingers , on a new boat that will dmage the gel coat.

A very good one for this type of mark is International Paints super cleaner but you need to wear gloves and mix to the correct solution, it goes a long way.

Better alternative to abrasive cleaners is to use one of the citrus based products. I use something called "Bath Power", which I get from Sainsbury's and which does quite a good job. It is, after all, designed for cleaning glossy plastic surfaces.

It has also brought the fenders up quite nicely.

But aren't there 2 types of Cif - the abrasive paste like old Jif and a non-abrasive spray?

I didnt mean use it as a polish and rubbing hard but used gently it does the job without scratching, in my case the paint not gel.coat.
